Carmynn Zhang is a Bay Area illustrator and fine artist specializing in portraiture in oil and digital painting. Dedicated to pursuing the arts at an early age, she studied Visual Arts at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts high school, where she discovered her passion for capturing the human figure and the emotional state of each subject. Using expressive brushwork and attention to detail, she has explored themes of mental illness, dreams, psychology, hardships, and the human experience.
Around San Francisco, Carmynn has exhibited her artwork in group shows and public venues. In 2021, she was awarded 1st Place in Beginning Illustration at the Academy of Art Spring Show for her piece “Baba Yaga”. Currently, Carmynn is a full-time student at the Academy of Art University working towards a BFA degree in Illustration with a projected graduation date of June 2024. She continues to explore the depths of how humans heal through art while growing her body of work.
