Alexa Marino
Alexa Marino is a New York City-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and performer. She has studied vocal technique for 20+ years, and has performed in venues all over New York City, including Rockwood Music Hall, Shrine World Music Venue, The Bitter End, and Groove. Coming from a musical family, Alexa has been cultivating her own rich and versatile sound to include elements of soul, indie, and pop.
In addition to being a musician, Alexa had also developed a professional career in the museum and art sector for almost 10 years and, while very fulfilling, it wasn’t quite the right fit. Just before the start of the covid-19 pandemic, she was motivated towards a career change in sound design so that she may combine what were always her personal passions with her professional goals. At 29, she began her studies at the Academy of Art University online, initially with a focus on music production. However, as the program progressed, so did her interest in sound design for visual media, particularly in the gaming industry. Now, Alexa has relocated to Los Angeles to pursue sound design for games, and to continue to work on her own personal projects in the process.
She is honored to be an alumni of the Academy of Art University’s MA Program for Music Production and Sound Design for Visual Media, and is thrilled to have been selected for the Music Spring Show 2022 exhibition! The AAU has created for her a second chance, and she will always be grateful for the new skills and techniques she can now take with her into the professional world.
