“Arpeggio: Song for Elliott” is a ceramic wall hanging installation that I made for my best friend. When he died six months ago my heart was torn apart and life was forever altered. My heart is here in this work, represented as the rustic terra cotta still chained to this earth, lichen crawling freely across the tangible life within them. Elliott’s heart is here, always alongside mine, represented as the bright and shiny hearts of imagination and memory; unchained and free of pain. Our home is here too, the lush and verdant green ferns of Portland, of the damp and magical forests which brought us together so many years ago. New life is sprouting from both of us somehow. I really miss you Elliott, I love you.
